MOTORISTS returning home to the borough this evening have been warned to plan out their routes before leaving work.

Temperatures are due to plummet this evening with snow on ungritted minor roads likely to turn into ice.

An AA spokesman said: "We would advise motorists to think about their route home first and avoid any areas where they think there are likely to be problems.

"The quick rat run might not be so quick today.

"We would also advise people who are at home today to clear any excess snow off their vehicles this evening to avoid giving the impression that they have been abandoned.

"This would make them less likely to be targeted by thieves."
