A WOMAN has died after she was struck by a train.
The 48-year-old, from Epping, was killed when she was hit by a Stansted Express train at Harlow Mill station, this Monday, January 4.
The driver of the Liverpool Street-bound train applied his brakes and sounded his horn but was unable to avoid striking the woman, who was on the railway lines.
British Transport Police attended the scene, but the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious.
The woman's family have requested that her name is not made public.
