THE district has escaped the predicted heavy snow today, and a clearer outlook is on the way.
Met Office staff had issued a severe weather warning for Saturday evening and Sunday morning but their suggestions of heavy snow failed to materialise.
Forecasters are now predicting a cloudy Sunday evening with light sleet or snow, and a minimum temperature of -1°C.
The outlook for the week is similar with a cloudy sky, low temperatures and the occasional burst of light snow.
