WOMEN across the district are being encouraged to enter this year's Race For Life.

The annual event, taking place at North Weald Airfield, helps raise money for Cancer Research UK and attracts thousands of participants.

Competitors can run, jog, or walk the 5km course, and last year 3,282 accepted the challenge raising £238,081.

This year's organisers are hoping for an even better turnout, and are urging women to encourage their friends, family colleagues to sign-up now entry to the event is officially open.

Cancer Research UK’s Lucy Hynes said: “This year Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is going to be full of amazing moments for everyone - from lining up at the start, side-by-side with thousands of other women, to reading the inspirational ‘back-signs’ worn by participants to the fantastic sense of achievement from crossing the finish line.”

Race for Life is due to take place on Wednesday, July 21 at 7.30pm, at North Weald Airfield.
