A WOMAN who has lived in the same area of Leyton all her life has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Frances Jones, of Richmond Road, enjoyed a meal with friends and family at the Eagle Inn, in Wanstead.
Mrs Jones has lived in her current home for more than 70 years and previously lived in nearby Sidmouth Road.
She attended Newport Road School and left at 14 to work at Bond's Sweet Factory, which used to stand on Norlington Road, Leyton.
She married ship worker Ernest in 1931 and had two children, Brian and Carole.
She is now a great-grandmother of 12.
Her daughter Carole Welton said: “She had a really great time yesterday, all her cousins and relatives came together.
“She was delighted to get her card from the Queen.”
