POLICE arrested over a hundred people and seized dozens of vehicles during a crackdown on burglary and related crime across the borough.

Officers have executed search warrants, arrested wanted criminals and increased the visible police presence across Redbridge as part of Operation Ethos, which was launched on December 14 and will continue throughout the winter.

Detective Inspector Steve Meechan said: "It is imperative that we continue to reduce residential burglary across Redbridge. We have focused our resources to address this issue and as a result we have had a positive impact on other aspects of crime throughout the borough.

DI Meechan reported that 118 arrests had been made for burglary, handling stolen goods, drugs offences, robbery and violence, along with the seizure of 23 vehicles involved in crime.

He added: “We continue to seek the support of the public with any information regarding these activities or those who may be responsible and continued vigilance within your neighbourhood at all times. If you suspect it please report it.”
