CYCLING projects can take advantage of fresh funding from transport authorities, following the success of last year's winning schemes.
Transport for London (TfL) has announced that grants of up to £10,000 will be available to groups who want to use to cash to promote this healthy way of getting around the area.
Last year, Redbridge Movers and Shakers received £2,720 to help raise the profile of cycling across the borough, and got a number of influential local people – including council leader Keith Prince – to appreciate the way cycling can have a positive impact on the community.
Another beneficiary, the Sikh Community Care project, was awarded £5,064 to encourage cycling among the Sikh community. The scheme has enjoyed real success, particularly among young girls who had not previously had the confidence to ride a bike.
Applications for funding can be made in two rounds; the first is from January 18 until February 5, and the second is March 8 to 26.
