PEOPLE in Redbridge have been urged to check on their elderly neighbours after the snowy weather left many housebound this morning.
The snow and ice have left many ungritted pavements unusable for elderly people with mobility problems, leaving them unable to get to the shops or community centres.
London Ambulance Service (LAS) has called on the public to check on vulnerable residents to ensure they have everything they need during the cold snap.
An LAS spokesman said: "To make sure you stay safe when it's cold and icy outside - dress appropriately and wear sensible footwear, wrap up warm to help keep the cold at bay, stock up on medicine, especially if you have a pre-existing condition such as asthma, check on your neighbours, especially older people to make sure they have everything they need."
