MUSICIANS with a taste for the improvisational are encouraged to perform at the district's first venue for jamming.
Buckhurst Hill Sports and Social Club, at 50 Queens Road, is hosting jazz sessions on Sundays where members of the audience will be invited to bring along their instruments and join in.
The evenings are the brainchild of Keith Neill, 47, of Hill Road, Theydon Bois, whose 15-year-old son Chris plays keyboards in the house band.
Keith said: “My son's been playing at jams since he was 11 on a fairly regular basis and it's something local musicians like to be able to do. There's some places in east London but nothing in this area.
“I was talking to the guys at the club and they agreed to host it. It's just a place where people can get on stage in front of an audience and try something out. It's nice to get the opportunity to do that.”
The next jam session is due to take place on Sunday, January 24 at 8.30pm.
