THE FUTURE of the borough's only A&E service will be up for discussion at a public meeting tonight (January 14).
Members of the public are invited to a meeting to examine proposals to shut the service at King George Hospital in Ilford at Sir James Hawkey Hall in Broomhill Road, Woodford Green.
The plans, developed by Health for North East London, include closing the ward at King George and upgrading the existing urgent care centre.
This means all emergency patients would be taken to either Whipps Cross in Leytonstone or an expanded A&E at Queen's Hospital in Romford, which campaigners say could put people's health in jeopardy due to increased journey times.
The meeting is from 6pm to 8pm. Anyone interested in attending should register with Laura Thistlethwaite on 020 8553 1236 or laura@redbridgecvs.net.
