PUPILS at a Wanstead school have showed off their musical talent at their annual winter concert.
With ensemble and solo performances, the concert at Wanstead High also featured an outing of the school's new jazz band line up.
Arts co-ordinator Tracey Phillipson said: “The jazz band have been very busy supporting many events this term.”
The concert included a cello solo, as well as an arrangement of Gershwin's Summertime from Year 11 pupils and a rendition of the theme from Wallace and Gromit from the school's new brass group.
Ms Phillipson added: “The orchestra opened the show with three pieces and then we were treated to a beautiful solo from Jonathon Gibson, Violoncello Sonata in G minor.”
She described Ayesha Moodley, who sang Part of Your World as a “future West End star”.
“After the interval we were treated to three pieces by our ever growing choir, a selection of soloists and Teenage Kicks by one of our Rock School groups,” Ms Phillipson said.
The evening closed with Stomping at the Savoy, performed by the jazz band.
A music celebration evening will take place at the school on February 11.
