A DATE has been set for a council review of a controversial late-night bar among calls for its licence to be revoked.

Essex Police called for a review of Minx, in Loughton High Road, after they revealed that 31 criminal incidents had been linked there since September 2008 including one GBH and two sexual assaults.

Epping Forest District Council will consider the bar's future on Thursday, February 4, and have already received around 30 objections.

Among the objectors calling for the revocation of the bar's licence is district councillor James Hart, whose Forest Ward contains Minx.

He said: “Over recent years I have had numerous complaints from neighbouring residents in Smarts Lane, High Beech Road and Connaught Avenue regarding anti-social behaviour on Friday and Saturday nights relating to the Minx.

“Typical complaints from neighbours include revving of engines, car stereos blaring, slamming of car doors, obscene language, broken glass and vomit on pavements, and revellers urinating in residents' gardens.

“Loughton is a quiet commuter town that people move to to raise their families. It is an entirely inappropriate location for a night club”.
