PLANS to transform Walthamstow Stadium into a housing development are set to be revealed this morning.

London and Quadrant (L&Q) Housing Association, which bought the historic dog racing venue in 2008, will be showing off its proposals for the site from 10am at the Holiday Inn hotel in Chingford Road, where L&Q will also be encouraging residents to submit their views.

It will be the first time details of its scheme to turn the site into a "residential-led, mixed use development" have been shown.

However critics claim today's consultation is a "sham" because a planning application for the development is set to be submitted within weeks, leaving little time for any possible alterations.

Entry to see the designs for the housing development will close at 2pm today.

The Save Our Stow (SOS) campaign group will be holding a protest against L&Q's proposals for the site outside the hotel from 11am, with celebrity supporters, including footballer Teddy Sheringham and actor Ray Winstone, expected to attend.
