AN ILFORD teenager arrested in connection with the murder of a man in a tower block has been bailed by police.
The unnamed 18-year-old was seized by officers after the killing in Upton Lane, Forest Gate, just after 1am on Wednesday, January 6.
The victim, 21-year-old Somali-born Mahmood Jama, died after being shot in the chest with a shotgun.
A police spokesman said: "Detectives believe that an altercation took place between two groups of youths on a former garage forecourt in Studley Road at its junction with Upton Lane and continued into [housing block] Whyteville House where the victim was shot."
Five men were questioned by officers following the incident, but have all been released without charge.
A further youth, aged 17, was arrested yesterday and remains in custody.
The Ilford teenager has been told to return to police later this month.
