A CHIP shop chain with a store in Chingford is in the running for a national award.

Fish'n'Chick'n, which has a branch in Hatch Lane, has been shortlisted in the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year competition, organised by Seafish.

The chain is one of three in line to win the Multiple Fish and Chip Retailer of the Year award at a ceremony on Thursday.

Fish'n'Chick'n managing director Hugh Lipscombe said: “We are all very excited about being shortlisted by Seafish as one of the top three multiple fish and chip retailers in the UK.

“My family has been in the fish and chip business for more than 60 years and we have all invested a great deal into building up our outlets, each of which holds the highest standards of quality and service, innovation, training and sustainability.”

The chain, which has 25 outlets across the south east of England, was founded in 1971 in Harlow.
