A QUICK-thinking police community support officer has been described as 'a credit' to the force after helping to bring a drink driver to justice.
PCSO Adam Brown was praised for "the way he presented his evidence and how well he coped under questioning" by magistrates in Redbridge after they fined the man £275 and added 10 points to his driving licence for being drunk behind the wheel in Ilford Town Centre.
He was also hailed as "a credit to the MPS for his quick thinking in the assistance of the other officers" after they spotted the man behaving suspiciously on October 10 last year.
A police spokeswoman said: "At 4.12am as they were returning to their offices, (PCSO Brown and his fellow officers) noticed three males acting suspiciously in a stationery vehicle in Lynton House car park.
"Upon speaking to the driver police could smell alcohol on his breath (and) he was requested to provide them with a breath test which he refused.
"One of the passengers in the rear of the vehicle became aggressive and violent and he was arrested and cuffed having been arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
"Police had to restrain the detained person further with leg restraints."
