CYCLING enthusiasts in Waltham Forest are being urged to get their thinking caps on and bid for cash.
Transport for London (TFL) is offering grants of up to £10,000 for projects which promote cycling in the city.
A spokeswoman for the organisation said they are particularly keen to receive bids from the borough as the response in the area has previously been poor.
The latest round of funding is now open for applications and groups or individuals are being asked to submit their ideas for encouraging more people to cycle.
Administered by the London Cycling Campaign (LCC), grants of up to £5,000 are available for projects which encourage people from under-represented groups to cycle.
To receive the £10,000 grants, groups have to demonstrate a larger-scale project.
Community groups in London to have already received funding include the STA Bikes and Wilton Estate project in Hackney.
The group was awarded £4,824 to provide adults and children with cycle training and for cycle maintenance workshops for young people.
Ben Plowden, director of integrated programme delivery at TFL said: “This year, we're offering increased grants to give local cycling champions the opportunity to think bigger and offer better opportunities to get more people cycling and people cycling more often.”
The deadline for applications for the first round of funding is February 5.
Anyone who misses this deadline will have between March 8 and 26 to submit their application.
