A TRAGEDY has taken place at a local primary school.
Pupils at Daiglen school, in Palmerston Road, were treated to a performance of the classic play Hamlet by the Young Shakespeare Company.
The theatre group have been visiting the school annually for four years now and always prove a hit with their young audience.
Their special adaptation of the Shakespeare classic used extra narrative, question and answer sessions and audience participation to help the pupils get to grips with the play.
Daiglen deputy head Tim French said: “It is fantastic to see children of this age so enthusiastic about Shakespeare’s work. They loved it when Hamlet pretended to be mad. The company do an outstanding job in making it so accessible. Our staff enjoyed it just as much as the children.”
