POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a shocking knife attack during a game of football at a popular beauty spot.
The group of four boys were having a kickabout near the Pavillion on Wanstead Park Flats, near Lake House Road, when they were approached by a group of seven black youths at around 3:30pm Sunday (January 17).
One man shouted threats at them before brandishing a knife. Two of the men playing football managed to run away, but the other two – both 21 – were assaulted, with one suffered a cut to his leg and another a gash in his upper left forearm.
The suspect then fled the scene on a red mountain bike. He is described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, of medium build, with shaven 'afro' hair, and wearing a black hooded jumper and black combat trousers.
The other suspects are described as black, 18 to 20 years of age, and all wearing dark clothing.
The victims were taken to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone and were released later that day.
