A MAN who was stabbed in a busy shopping street is no longer in a life-threatening condition.

Police said the 25-year-old, who was stabbed in Station Road, Chingford, at about 2pm yesterday (January 20), is in a serious but stable condition.

As previously reported by the Guardian, officers and ambulance crews were called to the scene, near the corner of Stanley Road, at about 2.05pm.

It is alleged the man was stabbed following an argument with another man.

Eyewitnesses said the injured man was conscious but bleeding heavily from a wound in his back.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.
