A WANSTEAD resident will be receiving her third telegram from the queen this weekend as she celebrates her 103rd birthday.
Florence Brewer, born in 1907 and raised in Hanwell, west London, is now living at the Forest Dene care home in Hermon Hill, Wanstead.
She will celebrate a third year beyond her centenary with a performance from local singer Geoff Jukes on January 23.
Staff at the care home will also be throwing Mrs Brewer a special party with family and fellow residents.
Katy Hughes, manager at Forest Dene, described Mrs Brewer as an “inspiration” and said she is a “big character” at the care home.
She said: “We are all really excited to be celebrating this special day with her.”
Mrs Brewer’s daughter Margaret credited her longevity to her “fighting spirit”.
