A MOTHER-OF-THREE has been jailed for fraudulently claiming more than £80,000 in benefits on homes in Redbridge and others in Romford and Barking and Dagenham.

Devi Luckhee, 33, was jailed for 15 months at Basildon Crown Court for the offences, which took place between 2003 and 2009.

The court heard how Mrs Luckhee claimed the money despite living in Paris and was found with several fake tenancy agreements when she was arrested, as well as a diary of trips to and from France.

She claimed support while working at a Romford restaurant for three-and-a-half months and her ex-husband Jayant Ramchurn earned money at Hovis for 14 months in 2005, Havering Council said.

Mrs Luckhee also received benefits worth 400 to 700 euros per month in Paris, while living in a council house there.

Havering Council said her claims came to a total of £80,750, including income support, child benefit and housing and council tax payments.

Mrs Luckhee pleaded guilty to three counts of dishonestly failing to notify changed circumstances, two counts of obtaining property by deception, one of dishonestly making false statements or representation, and one of dishonestly producing false documentation.
