UNTIDY residents have been asked to do their bit to clean up there neighbourhoods - starting with their own front gardens.
The council has called on the public for help in keeping the borough clean by encouraging them to dispose of old mattresses, furniture and piles of loose rubbish rather than leaving them out to rot.
As part of its new 'Love Where You Live' campaign, the authority has also advised residents to cut down on the amount of rubbish they throw away, book a free green garden waste collection, buy a proper pest-proof dustbin and to get rid of any unwanted vehicles by handing them over to the council.
A council spokeswoman said: "When rubbish sacks, mattresses and unwanted furniture is piled up in front gardens and left to rot it makes the neighbourhood look unsightly and also gives shelter and food to pests like rats and mice.
"This is a great time of year for getting rid of unwanted items and cleaning up ready for spring so we are asking you to 'Love Where You Live.'"
