HEARTFELT tributes have flooded in for a young woman who died after being hit by a car at an accident blackspot.
Fiona Daniels, 29, was run over as she tried to cross the High Road in Woodford Green near the junction with Bunces Lane and Forest Approach at around 7.20pm on Monday evening.
Mrs Daniels, who was thought to have been jogging at the time, suffered serious head injuries during the crash - which involved a blue Ford Focus - and died at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel on Wednesday.
The road was shut for five hours after the accident, which took place on the same stretch where popular boxing coach Norman Yearley was fatally injured in January 2008.
Retired journalist Gordon Vale, who lived nextdoor to Mrs Daniels and her husband Matt in St John's Court, Buckhurst Hill, said the couple were perfect neighbours.
He said: "She was a lovely girl.
"I couldn't have asked for better neighbours - I longed for neighbours like that but now Fiona has been taken away.
"Her and Matt were a wonderful couple. They were just about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
"I went to their wedding, which was fantastic. (Mrs Daniels' death) is obviously a tragedy."
Tributes have also been posted on the Guardian website in memory of Mrs Daniels, who is believed to have moved to London from Scotland several years ago.
One, posted by a South Woodford resident, said: "This is a tragic accident - she was a wonderful person, loved by everybody who knew her. If anything can come from this tragedy to prevent repetition then that shall be small comfort to her loved ones."
Another, posted by 'fbranch' from Woodford Green, also described Mrs Daniels as a "wonderful woman."

A post mortem was due to take place place yesterday, (Friday January, 22) at East Ham Mortuary.
An inquest into Ms Daniels' death also opened and adjourned at Walthamstow Coroner's Court yesterday.
Crash investigation officers are investigating the incident.
