TEN talented teenagers are headed for Oxford or Cambridge after being offered a coveted place at one of the world-famous universities.
Three girls and seven boys from Forest School, in Snaresbrook, are set to begin their studies at 'Oxbridge' once they have completed their A-levels this summer.
Nearly 40 per cent of students from the school who applied for a place at either of the universities were granted one - more than twice the national average.
Ian Honeysett who helps Forest pupils apply for a place at medical school - said: "It became apparent very quickly in the extra lessons that we had some very strong contenders for medical school places."
Three of the successful applicants joined Forest in the sixth form from comprehensive schools, two of whom – Awais Hussain from Langdon School and Vykobie Tharmarajah from Plashet Girls' School - with scholarships.
The successful Cambridge applicants were - Niaz Ahmed (to read medicine), Mark Christy (medicine), Anirudh Reddy (economics), Vykobie Tharmarajah (medicine), Antonina Tobolewska (history), Kin Ling Wong (classics), Michael Yoganayagam (economics) and William Zong,(Law).
The successful Oxford applications were - Awais Hussain, (to read physics and philosophy) and Abigail Leighton (biological sciences).
