ONE of the borough's key shopping streets will be given a spring clean as part of a drive to boost businesses in area.
The Street Spirit programme will clean up and decorate vacant shop fonts along Cranbrook Road in Ilford, after the town centre was designated as a business improvement district last year.
Plans are also afoot to improve street light and give the area a 'deep clean', which would include tidying up rubbish bins and other street furniture.
Ilford town centre manager Neil Davis said: “We are determined to improve the presentation of the Cranbrook Road area, which is a major thoroughfare into Ilford.
The businesses operating in Cranbrook Road are important to the whole town and we have been working together with the business community there to implement improvements in the standard of cleanliness and maintenance.”
