THE district council is set to object to plans to import nearly 500,000 tons of cubic waste to a village to create two new golf courses.
Epping Forest District Council officers have criticised the application to build new 9 and 18-hole golf courses at Blakes Golf Club, in North Weald.
They are recommending the plans, which will be decided on by Essex County Council, be formally objected to on the grounds of traffic problems, flooding potential ,and the fact the dumping will be detrimental to the landscape.
Their report states: “The proposed works are far in excess of those required to enable the creation of a golf course.”
The Blakes' application has already been objected to by North Weald Parish Council and a number of local residents in the village.
Blakes director George Dilloway has said the new courses would be good for the village offering free golf tuition and extra employment.
Essex County Council has yet to set a date for the hearing into Blakes.
