BUDDING pizza chefs will get the chance to put their skills to the test with a professional at two workshops coming up next week.

Paul Lewis, head chef at Prezzo Italian restaurant in South Woodford, will be joined by 25 lucky pupils from nearby Oakdale Junior School on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3.

The kids – aged 9 to 11 – will try their hand at making healthy pizzas from a range of fresh ingredients, and will naturally have the chance to sample lots of delicious Italian foods in the process.

Chef Paul said: “We think the best way to educate kids is to allow them to get hands on in a real, working environment.

“Food is at the heart of our loves and I’m looking forward to demonstrating how easy and how much fun it is to make something tasty and healthy to eat.

Oakdale School teacher Mary Lloyd-Evans said: “Healthy eating is obviously something we encourage at school, and so when Prezzo approached us with the idea of running a workshop we were ecstatic.

“The children will not only get a chance to have fun making pizzas, but also learn the importance of ingredients and working in a kitchen. We may even find we have some future Jamie Oliver’s at the school, who knows.”
