THE PREGNANT woman who was run over by a thief as he stole car has spoken of her hope that a police e-fit of the suspect will bring him to justice.

Suzy Haven, 33, was hit by the grey BMW 320D and carried along the street for several yards after trying to prevent the man stealing it from her driveway in Cleveland Road, South Woodford on December 23.

The former Forest School pupil, who was six months pregnant at the time, eventually tumbled off the car, as the carjacker sped off at about 11.30am. She was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital but fortunately both she and her unborn baby escaped serious injury.

Ms Haven, who also has a 16-month-old son, said she was now looking forward to the future and the birth of her new baby.

She said: “Things aren't too bad, it's been better recently. I just feel lucky to be alive.

“It would be nice to know the whereabouts of my car. Hopefully this e-fit coming out will make the public and the police more aware of who this person is, maybe if he's known to anyone out there.

“My family have been great, with things like lending me their cars. Of course, in my car were the pram, the baby seat, various thing like that, which has been a bit of a nightmare.

“I'm trying to put it behind me but I'm still slightly edgy when getting in and out of the car, but I'm getting moving on.

Ms Haven was loading Christmas gifts into the car, and was inside the house at the time when she saw the man - described as white, clean-shaven and aged between 28 and 32 jump into the car before running out to confront him.

She said: “At the time my main concern was the health of my baby. Obviously when you go to A&E their main concern is you, which was frustrating at the time, but I understand why they're like that.

“Once I had a scan and they found my baby was okay it was such a huge relief.”

The thief had short 'floppy' brown hair and was wearing a white top. The stolen vehicle had the registration number EY07 LMX.
