THE steel structure of the 2012 velodrome is now complete, as Olympic bosses say the venue will open on time early next year.

The velodrome, near the Leyton/Stratford border on the Olympic Park, will have 6,000 seats and will host indoor cycling events at the Games.

The structure of the building, made up of 2,500 pieces of steel has been finished this week and work will now begin on lifting 16km of cable to install the roof.

The velodrome is due to be the first Olympic venue to be completely finished.
