A GRIEVING son has set up a charity in memory of his late father in the fight against a devastating disease.
Hadley Silver, 33, of Lee Grove in Chigwell, is aiming to raise £600,000 for research into developing techniques for the early detection of pancreatic cancer, which claimed the life of his father Phil in April 2005.
Following his father's death, Mr Silver researched the illness and decided to set up the fund – called Development of Pancreatic Research – to improve detection of the deadly disease which affects 7,000 people in the UK each year.
The charity is having a fundraising quiz night at Woolston Manor Golf and Country Club in Chigwell on Sunday, February 7, which has already completely sold out.
