A COMPETITION has been launched to find the biggest pothole in Wanstead.
The Guardian highlighted the problems caused by a growing number of dents and crevices in the borough's roads, which have been made worse by the recent cold snap - with the council having to spend 37 per cent more on urgent road repairs in January than the same time last year.
But users of a community website - Wansteadium - have taken the issue a step further by launching a 'Pot Idol' contest, to locate Wanstead' biggest hole.
The site - which features a wide range of articles from the Guardian - shows pictures of two bad potholes in Nelson and Sylvan Roads and invites visitors to post photos and comments about the worst ones they come across.

The Guardian would also like to hear from residents with concerns about the borough's roads.
