PEOPLE from all over the borough are being asked to nominate a child they know who suffers from kidney disease or cares for a sufferer for a national charity award.
The Young Hero Awards are organised by the National Kidney Research Fund, which will be touring the nation's renal units in search of spirited children living with kidney disease. The awards also recognise children who support and care for a close friend or relative with the disease.
Professor Charles Pusey, chairman of the fund, said: "Every child who deals with kidney disease on a day-to-day basis is a young hero. Our Young Hero Awards help us to acknowledge these remarkable people."
There will be six regional finals around the country, one of which will be in London, and the organisers are planning for every celebrity that has supported the awards in the past to take part in this year's event.
The awards are open to children under 18 and anyone requiring further information should call 01733 704677.
