Redbridge FC...4 Dagenham and Redbridge...1 (Pre-season friendly)
AN entertaining game at Oakside on Monday saw Redbridge beat a Dagenham and Redbridge team predominantly made up of trialists and reserve team players.
Just two minutes were on the clock when Redbridge took the lead. Craig Edwards' rasping drive hit a post but Wayne Vaughan reacted to force a save from Daggers stopper Ally Turnham before Deji Davies poked home from close range.
The game was being played at a frantic pace and Dagenham were creating chances of their own with Matt Judge and Paul Hakim causing the Motormen defence problems, but Redbridge started the second half just as they had the first.
There had been 48 minutes played when a free kick from Lincoln was headed down by Damian Batt for substitute Jay Murray to place past Turham.
Murray added another goal two minutes later when he latched onto a ball from Lincoln and stepped inside the Dagenham defence to drill past Turham from the edge of the area.
A minute later Glenn Poole converted a penalty to further extend Redbridge's lead but Dagenham didn't give up and their hard work was rewarded when former Luton striker Judge capitalised on a defensive mix up between Alan McLeod and Jamie Lunan to score.
On Saturday, a more familiar looking Daggers side recorded a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Conference South outfit Eastbourne Borough.
The Sussex side provided John Still's men with a stiff workout and Dagenham struggled to find an early rhythm.
They improved after the break and veteran summer signing John Taylor headed past home stopper Lee Hook on 58 minutes to open the scoring.
That proved to be the only goal of the game, although Lee Goodwin and Craig MacKail-Smith came close to doubling the Daggers' lead.
