INTREPID fundraiser Paul Marlow will jump out of a plane for the second time this year.

Mr Marlow, 46, of Leytonstone has conquered his fear of heights and will make his second parachute jump, from 20,000ft, to raise money for the Joseph Clarke School and Service for the Visually Impaired, Highams Park.

In June he raised more than £1,000 for Crusaid, the HIV and Aids charity, when he leapt from a plane above the Kent countryside.

The school he is collecting cash for is Mayor Michael Lewis's chosen charity for his year in office and Mr Marlow decided he wanted to lend his support.

He says he will again be strapped to an experienced parachute instructor for the jump.

He said: "I'm looking forward to it. You get an amazing view of the country from up there.

"Once the adrenalin starts pumping everything is OK. If I start feeling nervous I'll think about how the money will help the children at the school."

The jump is expected to take place in September, from an airbase in Headcorn, near Maidstone, Kent.

Mr Marlow is appealing for sponsorship from residents and business owners across the borough.

He said: "I'll go round knocking on doors and do what I can to raise as much money as possible."

Cllr Lewis says he is delighted that Mr Marlow is supporting the charity.

Cllr Lewis added: "Paul has taken all the necessary precautions and the mayoress and I wish him and his co-jumper all the best for a successful jump."

Anyone who would like to sponsor Mr Marlow should contact the mayor's personal assistant, Sharon Campbell, on 8496 4399.
