LABOUR MP Mike Gapes has held his Ilford South seat with a healthy majority.
Mr Gapes won 25,301 votes in yesterday's poll - a big increase on the 20,856 he achieved in 2005.
His closest challenger, Tory candidate Toby Boutle, won 14,014 votes.
