A WOMAN whose husband lost his hearing at the age of 38 is set to take on a gruelling 10 kilometre run to raise funds for a deaf charity later this month.

Joanna Turner, 43, of Avenue Road in Woodford Green, will take part in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday May 16 in a bid to raise as much cash as she can for the Royal National Institute for Deaf People.

She was inspired to run for the good cause after her husband Richard developed a rare auto-immune disease which attacked his inner ears and robbed him of his hearing at the very young age of 38.

Joanna, a property manager, said: said: “By taking part in the Great Manchester Run, I’m aiming to raise as much money as possible to help RNID work towards finding solutions for hearing loss and providing services for deaf and hard of hearing people.”
