AN ACCLAIMED artist paid a visit to one of the borough's libraries on Wednesday to talk about how she used her work in her 11-year battle with mental illness.

Bobby Baker told the audience at Redbridge Central Library in Clements Road, Ilford, created artworks on a daily basis as an outlet for her problems.

The artist spoke at length about her experiences dealing with mental illness, and how she drew the first in the series of pictures on the day she began therapy sessions in 1997.

Her visit was part of the her latest exhibition's world tour, which has already been visited by 53,000 people in four months, and she was accompanied by her psychologist daughter.

The exhibition will soon move on to galleries in mainland Europe, including Belgium and the Netherlands.
