CHIGWELL School has held its tenth annual Musician of the Year competition to celebrate its virtuoso instrumental talent.
This year's special guest adjudicator at the school, in Chigwell High Road, was Lee Ward the director of music at the London Oratory School.
David Albon was awarded the senior winner prize on the day for his performance of Scherzo from Prokofiev’s Flute Concerto while Marianne Schönle was the junior winner for her piano piece, Tchaikovsky's Doumka.
Beatrice Moore (violin) and Chris Wilson (jazz piano) were both highly commended. The other four finalists were Heather Cook (recorder), Gopal Kambo (piano), David Al-Mudallal (drums) and Yuriko Hijikata (violin).
