ONGAR: Pickles steps down as Tory chairman
ONGAR MP Eric Pickles has stood down as chairman of the Conservative Party after being given a post in David Cameron's new coalition cabinet, it has been confirmed.
The Conservative member for Brentwood and Ongar was this morning meeting with colleagues as he takes up the role of Communities and Local Government Secretary.
He is replaced as party chairman by Baroness Warsi.
