POLICE have released this image of a man they are hunting in connection with an "unprovoked" attack.
The attack took place when the victim, a 26-year-old man, returned to his car, which he had parked in Lea Bridge Road, near the junction with Fraser Road.
He found a group of about five men leaning against his car and, when he became involved in an altercation with them, they attacked him.
The victim sustained head and shoulder injuries during the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The attack took place at about 2pm on Sunday, March 21, but the information has just been released by police.
Police are looking for five Eastern European men in connection with the attack and have published this image of one of them.
Detective Constable Iain Wallace said: "This was a totally unprovoked attack leaving a man badly injured.
"I urge anyone with any information to come forward."
Anyone with information should contact Det Con Iain Wallace at Chingford CID on (020) 8345 3043 or Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555 111.
