A GROUP of young people came together to discuss ending world porverty.
The first meeting of the Waltham Forest Oxfam Youth Group took place on Sunday where members competed with each other to come up with ideas, to draw attention to poverty in the developing world.
John McLaverty, youth and schools campaigner for Oxfam’s south-east office, facilitated the meeting at the Hornbeam Centre in Walthamstow and led a lively discussion about the lack of health and education provision in the developing world.
The group is the only Oxfam youth group in the UK not based in an established youth club or school.
The next meeting is on June 14 from 2-4pm at the Hornbeam Centre, Hoe Street, Walthamstow.
All young people aged 11-16 are welcome.
