REDBRIDGE Council is set to make an announcement tomorrow about the shape of the new administration for the borough, the Guardian has learned.
Conservative group leader Keith Prince confirmed that negotiations between all three party groups were proceeding well and that the council would release details of who will lead the council, after no party won overall control.
The recent elections, on May 6, saw the Tories slip back to 30 seats - two short of a majority - while the Labour group made substantial gains, finishing on 26 seats.
The Liberal Democrats were left disappointed, as they fell back to seven seats, despite seeing an increase in their share of the vote.
In Wanstead and Woodford, only one seat changed hands, with Paul Canal winning a seat in Bridge ward, which was previously held by an independent councillor.
Both the Labour and Lib Dem groups have appointed new leaders since polling day, with Cllr Bob Littlewood replacing Cllr Elaine Norman as Labour leader, and Cllr Ian Bond replacing Cllr Hugh Cleaver as leader of the Lib Dems The first full council meeting since the election will be held on Thursday May 20.
