A JUNIOR school has been rewarded for it's 'champion' efforts in raising money for Sport Relief this year.
Oakdale Junior School in Oakdale Road, South Woodford, impressed the charity so much with its fundraising activities that it has been named a Sport Relief Champion and awarded £1000-worth of PE equipment.
On March 19 the school's pupils took to the swimming pool to swim enough lengths to match the distance between Dover and Calais, before each and every student and member of staff ran a mile in the school playground.
Teacher Dawn Hallybone said: “The children were delighted in assembly when they found out that their hard work had been recognised in this way and we look forward to enjoying our new equipment.”
