THE hard work and dedication of the district's healthcare professionals was honoured at an event marking national Nurses Day last week.

Staff, family and friends all came together for the occasion at St Margaret's Hospital in Epping last Wednesday (May 12).

The day featured talks, stalls and a charity raffle.

A spokesman for NHS West Essex said: "It was an informal opportunity for nurses and health care assistants to relax and network, sharing ideas and experiences."

Speaker Vince McCabe, managing director of West Essex Community Health Services, paid tribute to the dedication and professionalism of nurses.

He said: “We receive many compliments about the care you give. For example where you have cared for people at the end of their lives.

"While their families are grieving they still think about saying thank you to you.”

Event organiser Gertrude Madovi said: “The day was a great success with a lot of support from nursing staff across the organisation."
