STAFF at an infant school got on their tracksuits and trainers for a marathon charity walk.

A 15-strong team from Staples Road Infant School, in Staples Road, Loughton, took on the 26-mile challenge of the Playtex Moonwalk London 2010.

The event saw the tireless teachers setting off on an eight hour midnight walk from Hyde Park and through London, and their endeavours raised over £6,000 which will go to various breast cancer charities.

Headteacher Anne Davison said: “All of us have relatives and friends who have been affected by breast cancer and we felt as a team we'd like to get a bit of support for the charity.

“We all walked together. It was a wonderful experience. We saw the sun rise over the river which was very beautiful. It was very tiring but very worthwhile and people are already signing up for next year.”
