A PA and part-time waitress is hoping to complete this year's Race for Life in memory of her aunt.
Louise Burns, 20, of Hillyfields, Loughton, decided to take on the 5,000 run, at North Weald Airfield, on July 21, after her aunt Silvie died of breast cancer in 2007.
She said: “Obviously a lot of people can relate to this because a lot of people know someone who has had cancer.
“Also I wanted to get together with my friends to raise a good total. I had a goal of £150 and I think I've raised £245 and I'm still getting sponsors now.”
Louise will be among around 3,300 women entering Race for Life this year which hopes to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
She said: “I've been doing road running, and the treadmill at the gym. I'm getting there slowly but surely.
“Anything I can do to help is good, but it's also a laugh and you can get fit while you do it.”
Louise can be sponsored at raceforlifesponsorme.org/louiseburns.
It's not too late to enter Race for Life. To find out more visit raceforlife.org or call 0871 641 1111.
