A NEEDY kennels for re-homing greyhounds has received a much-needed charitable donation from a generous new business.
Barley Kennels, in Galley Hill, Waltham Abbey, was awarded £2,350 from the recently opened branch of Pets At Home, at Highbridge Retail Park.
The money came from the pet store's charitable body Support Adoption For Pets, and will help to pay for a new roof.
Kennels manager Joy Battley said: “We desperately needed a new roof on our kennels. Because the old one had asbestos it cost us £2,000 to remove so this was very, very good news.
“We applied for the grant and they very kindly agreed. It's very nice of them.”
Barley Kennels helped re-home over 100 greyhounds last year and is always looking for new owners willing to adopt.
Joy said: “It's going reasonably well. Unfortunately there's always work to be done. As soon as one's out the door another comes in, but we're doing quite well at the moment.”
