DANGEROUS motorists who have been risking children's safety with their reckless parking and driving outside a primary school have been targeted by protesting pupils.
Youngsters at Limes Farm Primary in Chigwell formed a human chain and made banners urging vehicles not to park on the yellow zig-zag lines outside the building, following concerns from some parents that cars are making it harder for pupils to cross the road safely.
The demonstration came after the issue was raised at a local neighbourhood action panel meeting, with police then approaching the school to talk about the problem.
School head Sophia Pardalis said: “The children wanted to get involved and take their own action to get the message across to parents to consider their safety when parking near their school and in particular on school crossings.”
Neighbourhood specialist officer Simon Suleman said: “It’s great the children wanted to get involved and support us in keeping the zig-zag yellow lines free from traffic today.
“We hope it really hits home and sends a strong message to parents and other local residents to consider the children’s safety when choosing a place to park.”
