RECYCLING garden and kitchen waste is set to become cheaper for Redbridge residents.
Gardeners can now get their hands on cut price water butts and composting bins - as part of the council's efforts to make the borough greener.
The equipment is being sold at getcomposting.com - in partnership with the local authority.
A council spokeswoman said: "You can start composting at any time of year. It's a wonderful way to turn your vegetable scraps into something useful and can help reduce your waste.
"Buy or build a bin, pop it in a sunny spot in the garden which is easy to access all year round and start filling it with an even mixture of 'green' things like raw fruit and vegetable peelings.
"Egg boxes, toilet roll inners, shredded documents and cereal boxes can be added too.
"That's it, sit back and relax and after a year your bin will have some lovely compost ready for spreading on your garden."
